Devi Ahilya University also called Indore University is a university operated by the state government of Madhya Pradesh, located at Indore. Devi Ahilya University was established in 1964 by an act of legislative assembly of Madhya Pradesh. University functions from its two campuses namely Nalanda and Takshshila. University administrative office is located at Nalanda Campus.RNT Marg and Teaching departments are at Takshshila campus.

The university has more than 300 affiliated colleges imparting education at under-graduate and post-graduate levels in basic and professional disciplines. The university has 9000 students in its campus and total over 300,000 students in affiliated colleges.
University spreads over an area of 760 acres in which academic classes holds in Takshila parisar (campus) of university which spreads over an area of 510 acres and Avanti parisar (campus) which spreads over 154 acres. Nalanda parisar (campus) is for administrative and official works which spreads over an area of 100 acres.
In year 2014 National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited university as A grade university.
The main objective of the institute is to provide specialized high quality education by integrating traditional and modern scientific techniques in teaching-learning process through on-campus, distance and part-time programs offered in a flexible and modular manner.

Admission Procedure -
Admission in UTD is through CET (Combined Entrance Test) organized every year by University in different districts of Madhya Pradesh. The competition of admission is very tough so as to be noted for 9000 seats over 150,000 applications in 2009.Facilities -
Central Library-The library has over 200,000 books including various textbooks, Research journals, reference books, magazines etc.
Information Technology center- Internet access is provided to all departments using fiber optic backbone & 16 Mbit/s leased line.
University Cultural Center -The Auditorium has two levels, accommodating 1100 seats in the balcony and the main hall. Stairs to the east and west provide access to the balcony.
