A Master of Arts in Political Science provides learners the knowledge, the skill set and the aptitude to work in various careers. It’s the sort of program that allows learners to apply their knowledge to public service, administration, legislation, and making public policies for the benefit of the common man. The MA in Political Science is a higher degree program that prepares interested learners for an exhilarating career in politics and policy making. Many of the graduates in Political Science end up working for the government either in the executive branch or in the legislature. The program provides people the opportunity to understand the Constitution, law making procedure, and modern governance combined with appropriate coursework. Additionally, this degree prepares students for jobs overseas, working for the state department or other communication-based jobs with theoretical and hands-on training. Some of the graduates end up working as consultants to policy planning bodies in India and abroad, indirectly helping rebuild developing countries in Southeast Asia and Africa. Courses taught in this program are as varied as the subject itself. Some of the courses include regional politics, governance, policy formulation, laws and the legal framework for controlling the political decisions. Traditional courses include research methodology, contemporary political theory, comparative politics, Indian constitutional system, public administration, and International relations during cold war, Capitalism, Socialism and India’s role in promoting or sideling different ruling systems. Other than the political line of works, Political Science graduates can also venture out in the research and teaching line and become professors in leading institutes/universities in India and abroad.
