The university was established in the year 1983 on the propitious Maharashtra Day and also the Worker?s Day on the 1st of May It has been recognized by the UGC as well u/s 12 (B) of the UGC Act 1956 and also got the accreditation form NAAC and 5 The SGBAU has its jurisdiction over the Western Vidarbha areas that encompass five districts namely Amravati Yavatmal Akola Buldhana and Washim.
