Home science is basically the science and economy of home and the interaction among the things that make up a home like individuals, home, family members and home resources. It teaches the technique of improved ways of living in a home, through scientific techniques of using home resources. Home science combines the subjects of various sciences and humanities for the betterment of home environment, nutrition, resource management and child development. In a nutshell, Home science prepares learners for the vocation of Home Making. Through this course, young learners the tricks of the trade in subjects like dietetics, family research, welfare, home management and communication. The Bsc. in home science is offered as a 3 years degree.  The syllabus of this program is devised in such a way so as to incorporate multiple disciplines. This interdisciplinary nature of this program is because of the reason that Home Science is multidimensional in nature and needs knowledge from various spheres. Some of the course content includes food, nutrition, physical health; finance, resource management and planning; economics, clothing, housing, consumer science, household administration, interior design, technology, food science; textiles, family studies, hospitality, education and more.
