Kolhan University

Kolhan University is a premier institution in the STATE of Jharkhand that has been established with a view to cater to the needs and requirement of the local people. The university came into existence in the year 2009. It has the jurisdiction of the places of East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharswan District which is a tribal dominated region. The university has 21 fully fledged PG departments and offers courses in fields like medical dental engineering law and management as also education. At present the university has enrolled more than 80 000 students in the various courses. The Kolhan University has 14 Constituent Colleges and 12 Affiliated Colleges. The objective of the university is to provide education to each and every individual that comes within its purview. The university has initiated a number of programs and has established various cells like placement cell quality. assurance cell and so on for taking note of all the matters related to the students. It has made advancements in the establishment of computing facilities to enable the students to utilize as much resources as they can and benefit from them. Initiative to start E-governance is also being though at by the university administration. Research: In the research area too the KU has done outstanding work producing quality research projects on various topics: More than 67 scholars have enrolled their names in the several research programs leading to doctorate degrees In the academic year 2012 more than 700 students have appeared for the Ph. D exams which show the high level of research activities that is being encouraged by the university. Extra-Curricular: Establishment Day of Kolhan University, Independence Day, Teacher's Day, Birth Day of Rastrapita Mahatma Gandhi, Human Rights Day, Republic Day, Youth Festival, National Science Day, Women's Day, World Environment Day Scholarships: A scholarship of Rs. 4000 is awarded to the research scholars per month for a period of two years based on their merit and performance.
