Mother Teresa Women's University was established by the enactment of Tamil Nadu Act 15 in 1984 with am of providing quality education among girls and to promote women empowerment. The university offers Master Doctorate and Postgraduate courses. It is located at 2,100 metres above sea level and only ten degrees North of the Equator Kodaikanal. The nearest Railway Station to the university is Kodai Road and nearest Air Port is Madurai. The university has 4 centre including Centre for Women 'Studies Centre for Rural Development Centre for Gandhian Studies and Centre for Intellectual Property Rights It conducts Entrance examination for MCA/MBA/M.Sc. Biotechnology M.Ed. and B.Ed.
