Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women, a synonym for sterling service in Higher Education of women and a household name in Periyakulam Educational District was established on 5th July, 1971. It has been managed by the Sisters of St. Anne of Tiruchirapalli. Imparting Higher Education to the rural women, i.e. economically, educationally, socially and culturally backward. It was a glorious dream jointly dreamt and fulfilled by the efforts of Mother Lucy Crescentia Mary, the then Mother General of St. Anne's Congregation, Tiruchirapalli, and the philanthropist of the illustrious family of Jayaraj Chellathurai. It is named after his parents Jayaraj Annapackiam. Our College is a Minority Institution. This beacon of light on the hill; this pool of learning, quenching the educational thirst of the young women of this area; this gem set in a sylvan scene, Jayaraj Annapackiam College is located on Mt. St. Anne, nestling in lush green, facing the Kodaikanal Hills, which is 2 kms. away to the West of Periyakulam, Theni District, Tamilnadu, India. It has been the locus of Women's Higher Education and affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University till October, 2002 and since then has been affiliated to Mother Teresa Women's University, Kodaikanal. Besides the unique distinction as the FIRST AUTONOMOUS COLLEGE IN THENI DISTRICT, JAYARAJ ANNAPACKIAM COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, enjoys the prestigious status of FIRST GRADE COLLEGE, among the Colleges affiliated to Mother Teresa Women's University, Kodaikanal. In recognition of peerless four decade long pioneering service in imparting Quality Higher Education to the underprivileged rural young women, the college was crowned with 'A GRADE' in the Re-Accreditation by the NAAC in 2008. The College Campus is endowed with an atmosphere of serenity and quietude, conducive to studies and Research.
