Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

Navodaya Vidyalayas were launched in the year 1985-86 under the National Policy of Education (1986) by the Govt. of India with the objectives of promoting excellence amalgamated with equity and social justice to inculcate National Integration by didn't of a specific programme of Education including a strong component of culture inculcating values, awareness of environment, adventure activities, to nourish talent in the rural areas in particular and amidst weaker sections of the society, to produce a good modern quality education accessible to the talented children their maximum growth of personalities in all the respects such as physical, mental, social emotional and moral. As per Govt. provisions these vidyalayas are being opened initially one in each districts, (now some districts have two JNVs) as a moot - step for improving the quality of school education in general through sharing of experiences and facilities encircling 23 states and 7 union territories. (Now we have JNVs in all states and union territories except in Tamil Nadu). These vidyalayas are entirely financial and managed by the NVS, and autonomous organisation set up by the Govt. of India under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. These vidyalayas are fully residential in nature having the separate hostels for boys as well as girls providing everything free of cost including boarding, lodging books & stationery and uniforms etc. (Now a nominal fee of Rs.200/- per month is collected from boys above the poverty line of classes IX to XII. Children belonging to SC/ST, Girls, Physically Handicapped are exempted).
