Institutes origin is rooted back in 1926 as Marris College of Music established in 1926 by Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande. Later in year 1966 Govt. of Uttar Pradesh took its management and renamed as Bhatkhande Music College of Hndustani Music and now as Bhatkhande Music Institute University. Institute has organized various annual festivals in which most renowned artists like Zakhir Hussain Amjad Ali Khan N Rajam Pt. Ravishankar and Sitara Devi had performed.
