Dr. B. R. Ambedkar OPEN University (BRAOU) Hyderabad was established in the year 1982. The university is established by an Act of Andhra Pradesh STATE Legislature (APOU Act 1982) subsequently the University was renamed as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar OPEN University in 1991 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. From November 1999 the University started Telecast of Video lessons through Doordarshan Regional Channel. On Sundays the University has Interactive Teleconferencing on the Regional Channel of Doordarshan. It is recognized by UGC The university is spread in area of 53.63 acres Facilities: Library It has 1427225 books It subscribes 20 newspapers and 17 magazines 123 national and 30 international journals SC/ST Cell It is a Special Cell of the university that looks after the welfare of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students Why Dr. B.
