About FMGE
The FMGE-Screening Test has been introduced through Screening Test Regulations 2002. As per the regulations, “An Indian citizen/Overseas citizen of India possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council on or after 15.03.2002 shall have to qualify a screening test conducted by the prescribed authority for that purpose as per the provisions of section 13 of the Act. National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has been entrusted with the responsibility to conduct the Screening Test as per Screening Test Regulations 2002. Role of NBEMS is limited to conduct of the test, publishing the result and handing over the result to National Medical Commission & all State Medical Councils.
As per the current schedule, the Screening Test is conducted by the NBEMS in June and December every year
The next session of Screening Test shall be held in June 2023 as per schedule detailed under Important Dates and Scheme of Examination
FMGE 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian national or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
Qualification: The candidate should possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned
Documents: Candidates have to submit proof of primary medical qualification. If someone fails to submit required documents within the stipulated time, he will not be considered eligible for FMGE exam.
Result of the final exam: The result of the final examination for primary medical qualification should have been declared on or before October 31, 2023.
Exemptions: Candidates who have completed their undergraduate medical qualification from the below-mentioned countries do not have to appear for FMGE for registration with MCI, provided they are eligible to enroll as medical practitioners in the respective country.

- User ID and Password will be sent through SMS and Email.
- Complete the application form and upload your Photograph, Scanned signature, Thumb impression & Prescribed documents
- Choose your Test City and pay Examination Fee
- Agree to the declaration and Submit Application
- Take a print out of the filled Application form with Transaction ID printed on it for records

As mentioned earlier, FMGE 2023 is a licensing examination. Qualifying for the examination would not mean that the candidate can take admission into any educational institution. Qualifying FMGE 2023 will enable candidates to register with the Medical Council of India (MCI) and work as registered medical practitioners in India. The FMGE 2023 Selection Process comprises steps including the application process, admit card, exam, result, and issuance of the pass certificates. Let's understand each process in detail.
Admit Card
Admit cards shall be made live on National Board of Examination website https://nbe.edu.in .Admit cards will not be issued to candidates found ineligible before the conduct of the examination.
Candidates will be informed through SMS/Email alerts and website notice regarding availability of the admit card on NBEMS website. Admit card will not be sent to the candidates by Post/Email
Candidates are required to download their admit card from the NBEMS website and affix firmly their recent (not more than 3 months old) passport size photograph in the space provided on the admit card. The photograph must meet following specifications
Size of photograph : Minimum 35x45 mm (and not larger than the box printed on admit card for pasting the photograph) with at least 75% area on the photograph should be occupied with the face & head of the candidate.
It should be a Colour photograph with white background.
