M.A. (Rural Development)Master of Arts in Rural Development
Rural development is a discipline that involves the organizing and controlling of activities for the benefit of the rural community in India. As India is primarily a rural economy, most of the small business transactions and economical activities take place in these areas. Agribusiness is an allied industry that has provided employment and respect to people living in and around rural areas. Thus, it is important that rural management is made the prime focus for the overall growth of the country. The MA in rural development is one such unique program that aims to bridge the gap between the government initiatives and the end users, i.e. the rural community. This program is especially useful for employees working for the government as it complements the various schemes proposed by the government and learners get a chance to implement the schemes directly. Others who are at a benefit by taking up this program are environment professionals, members of NGO’s, bank executives and individuals working in social institutes directed at social change of rural economies. Courses include rural development planning and research, research methods for rural development, social development, voluntary activities, land reforms, mapping, rural development and entrepreneurship, health care in rural settings, communication for rural reforms etc.
