Unveiling Punjab Engineering College (PEC): A Legacy of Excellence in Technical Education

Punjab Engineering College (PEC) originated in Lahore as Mugalpura Engineering College in 1921. Then, it was relocated to its current campus in 1953 as PEC affiliated to Panjab University. In 2003, it received Deemed University status. It was renamed PEC University of Technology in 2009.

Union territory of Chandigarh, the government of India is administering PEC. PEC is expanded to 146-acre of land. It also consists of Chandigarh College of Architecture. The governance structure of PEC is similar to IITs because it is checked by a Board of Governors and the governance is chaired by industrialist Sh. Rajinder Gupta. A director, equivalent to a Vice Chancellor leads this institute and has five-year tenure.

This institute offers total undergraduate courses such as B. Tech. programs, 14 postgraduate M. Tech. programs, and PhD programs across various disciplines.

PEC offers 8 undergraduate B. Tech. programs, 14 postgraduate M. Tech. programs, and PhD programs across various disciplines. Admissions to these programs are conducted through national-level exams like JEE (Mains) and GATE. The institute comprises 9 academic departments and 2 centers of excellence.

Location: 

The college is situated in Sector 12 at the north end of Chandigarh.

The premises of the college are within a few minutes walk from the Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat, the Panjab University, and the Post Graduate Institute Of Medical Education And Research (PGI).
