Vivekananda College for Women

Our college is the single pioneer women?s college in the district of South Twenty Four Parganas in West Bengal. It enjoys the reputation of being an august seat of learning having to its credit a few rank holders in the graduation course of University of Calcutta. As one of the leading institutions for Women, the motto of the college has been to promote women?s education. Indeed, the challenge for women?s education is much intensive than the challenge before the education system as such. Our institution is conscious of its role and is making an orchestrated move by all its stakeholders towards evolving a programme specially addressed to the needs of the women. The total student of our college is about 2000. Out of the total roll strength scheduled caste and tribes constitute 19.35% of the total students; whereas minority constitutes 10.05% and 16.5% of the students are first generation learners and 2.2% belongs to BPL family. Naturally we are bound to expend more for general development of the institute to accommodate such a large number of students coming from backward, minority and deprived classes. We have a concrete aim of expansion and development of our institution to make our students self-reliant and we are relentlessly moving ahead in this regard.
