United College began catering to the educational needs of the students upto Higher Secondary level initially. In 1987, the college was granted Temporary Affiliation by the Manipur University. Permanent affiliation was accorded to the College in 1995 vide the Syndicate Resolution No.15/131, thereby including the college under the sections 2(f),12(b) of the University Grants Commission Act of 1956 on 13th November, 1995. Under the relentless efforts of the erstwhile Governing body headed by Shri (L) Ht. Thungam, Hon?ble Ex-Minister, as its founder Chairman, the United College was permitted to add Degree Classes in Arts and was granted 90% Recurring Grant-in-Aid by the Rishang Keishing Government vide order No.6/9/84-S/HE dated the 30th March, 1987. On 1st June, 1996, the college was converted into fullfledged Government Degree College again during the Hon?ble Chief Ministership of Shri. Rishang Keishing. Shri BD Behring, Hon?ble Ex-MP/MLA, was the then Chairman of the Governing Body under whose tireless initiatives the aspirations of the leaders, general public and student community to have a full-fledged Government Degree college in the District came to fruition. United College has seen tremendous growth along the years. From a humble beginning it has earned the envious distinction of being the first NAAC accredited college in the hill districts of Manipur at the B Level (71.05%). The College is now poised to rise to the demands of the students in the field of higher education with the assistance of the Government of Manipur, University Grants Commission (UGC), North Eastern Council (NEC). Currently, preparations for NAAC Re-accreditation is in the final stages of completion.
