An etymological analysis of the word ?Mahakalpara? reveals that it is the pada (abode) of Supreme Lord Shiva (Mahakal) It is the place where the divine peace and serenity reigns for ever. Mahakalpara, in its geo-political location, is a Block headquarter of the coastal district Kendrapara. It is twenty five Km away from the District Headquarter and 105 Km away from the state Headquarter, i.e-Bhubaneswar. It has demographic strength of near about 2 lakhs as per 2011 census. It is enjoying the status of an Assembly constituency, The Blue water of Bay of Bengal kisses its beautiful land. Because of topographical advantage, the Dept.of Defence has installed a Naval base which assumes military significance.
