Sri Sarada Niketan College for Women, Amaravathipudur, Karaikudi Taluk has been in existence since 1997. The unparallel commitment of Swami Admananda Maharaj, to the cause of higher education for the women, particularly those in rural areas, is the sole factor that brought the College into being here, one of the educationally backward districts of the nation. Affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University earlier, the College stands now affiliated to the Alagappa University, Karaikudi from the academic year 2003-04. The main purpose of the College is to bring into being illustrious young women graduates, prepared with valuable knowledge, perfected with character and packed with true sense of human values as reflected in our four-fold objectives: "BLISS LOTUS BLOOM SMART". The College owes its existence to Srimath Swami Atmananda who took efforts to establish the College. He is the founder, correspondent and secretary of this College. He has established educational institutions in Karur, Coimbatore and Salem, with service as the basic motto in serene environment. Sri Sarada Niketan College for Women College is situated in an ever green tranquil environment of lush Coconut Grove of 34 acre expanse. Guests to the campus are wonder-struck on the very sight the greens, occasionally visited by peacocks. Besides on-looking the Rameswaram Highways, the Kallupatti-Aravayal Panchayat Road on the other side provides easy reach to the College. The thrust goal of the College is to impart job-oriented higher education with utility based curriculum for women students in the background of a distinctive atmosphere of ancient native culture and tradition of the land. In addition to offering education that equips the learners with ability to face the challenges of life, this institution endeavors to preserve and propagate the rich tradition and culture of our nation imbibing in the students, the foundations of discipline, dedication, devotion and divinity. A beautiful Sri Sarada Devi Temple is nested serenely in the College, with an imposing Prime Tower. The temple is serene and blissful with pooja carried out regularly 6 times a day. The students and members of the staff are blessed as they participate in the divine recitals on Ramakrishna and Sarada Devi, besides other Deities. The temple instantly imbibes divine experience. Depictions of sayings of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Swami Vivekananda and Sarada Devi displayed at many places add to the already overflowing divinity. There is another small shrine devoted to Lord Ganesa along with Lord Hanuman. Inside there is also Sri Sarada Sevashram which runs a home for the aged and destitute women and children.
