Sonapur College

Established on 2nd August, 1991, Sonapur College has paved its way to be recognised as one of the premier institutions of the state. This sacred temple of higher education is located on the tranquil peak of a hillock at Sonapur having all the blessings of Nature's greenery. marching ahead with the continuous pursuit of knowledge, which has all along been its avowed objective, the college was also assessed and accredited by NAAC in 2004. Since the day of its inception, the college has played a pioneering role in the spread of higher education in the South Eastern part of Kamrup district as well as the state of Assam and Meghalaya. Located at a distance of 20 kms from the capital, the college has successfully promoted itself as an academia of multidisciplinary institutions. To cater to the needs of the present dynamic of the change and the dream of the local people, the college has introduced Information Technology (IT) and Travel and Tourism Management (TTM) as vocational course. Commerce stream in both HS and Degree level has proved to be milestone in the twenty years of its history. Now the B.Com students are greatly benefitted as the Gauhati University has provided affiliation to the college to be furnished with examination centre.
