Sohra Govt. College

Sohra College had been under the management of the Governing Body formed by the public from its inception till 16th August 2011. Sohra College since its inception, Academically, is a Pre-University(Arts) College affiliated to North Eastern Hills University having Six Departments viz. English, Khasi, Political Science, History, Economics, Education. Provisional Affiliation was granted to Sohra College by the North Eastern Hill University for Pre-University Courses on 2nd December 1986, and for Degree Courses on 30th January, 1993. The College was Provincialized (purely government) on the 18th Feb 2009. The College has been listed under 2(f) and 12(B) (paving the way to receiving grants from UGC) only from 1st October 2005 of the UGC Act, following acquisition of Permanent Affiliation (2nd March 2005).
