Simdega College

The college was established in the year 1960 with the effort and zeal of local people who had deep love for education and vision for the development of this backward remote area Jharkhand which is Close to Orissa and Chattisgarh are very close i.e. about 48 K.M. to 50K.Ms away from Simdega. It is situated a 170K.Ms away from Ranchi University HQ and capital of Jharkhand, Ranchi, is an old contitutients unit of Ranchi university. Dedication and devotion of Late Shri jagdish Prasad of Tukupani (simdega) can never be forgotten who with his continuous effort and commitment established this College in the year 1960 and also donated generously 16 acres of land and hand some grant for the establishment of this College. His Excellency Governor of Bihar Shri Anat Sayanam Aangar laid down foundation stone of College building in 1963. The College is located at the end of town on the main road which leads to Orissa (Rourkela) i.e. at about 2K.Ms from heart of the town, away from dean and bustle of town situated in the lap of nature amidst mountains and greenery in an ideal atmosphere of an academic institution. Each and every particle of the campus adds to its serenity that is the most unique feature of the College. It is a co-educational institution having large number of girls at its roll in every academic session. It imparts educational from intermediate (+2 course) to Degree Honors level in three major faculties i.e. arts, Science and Commerce students strengths of this college about 3000. All popular subjects in different three faculties are taught here with the help of about dozen learned teachers, well experienced in their subjects. It imparts teaching in regional languages like Kharia, Mundari and Nagpuri The college has two hostels for boys in the campus with all facilities of games and other extra curricular activities and has pride to produce Hockey players of National rank, have been champion on many occasion in Hockey tournament of University and state leave. The college is housed in five different blocks having good no. Of lecture theater, classrooms and gallery. It has a well-maintained office, divided in different sections and a separate beautiful building for College library having 25000 books; some are of rate qualities and skilled staff. It has well equipped laboratories and beautiful playground. There is strict discipline in the college and students are required strictly obey the rules and regulations laid down by college administrations. College provides identity cards to enrolled students who are essentially required to keep their identity card with them in the college campus. 75% attendance is essential for regular students failing which students may not be allowed to appear at examination. There are two separate committees for students admission one for Arts and another for Science and commerce faculties. The selection committees are empowered to select students for admission in different classes on the guidelines of R.U. admission rules. Reservation policies for ST/SC and BC students are followed strictly during preparation of selection list for admission. College has a grievance cell consisting of the following members with PRINCIPAL as its Chairperson.
