Sheth L U J College Of Arts and Sir M V College of Science and Commerce Sheth Laherchand Uttamchand Jhaveri College of Arts & Sir Mathuradas Vissanji College of Science & Commerce The Colleges were established in 1963 in the memory of Sir Mathuradas Vissanji, Sheth Laherchand Uttamchand Jhaveri and Shri Jivanlal Chinai by their descendant Shri Pratapsingh Vissanji, Shri Pratap Bhogjlal and Shri Rasiklal Chinai with the aim of providing quality and value based education to the students in suburbs Shri M C Chagla, Union Minister of Education graced the ceremonial inauguration of Sheth LUJ College of Arts & Sir M V College of Science The First term corniced in June 1963, and the colleges were affiliated to University of Mumbai With the need of the time, Sheth LUJ and Sir MV College introduced Commerce faculty to its wing in June 1980 The Colleges were managed by Laxmi Education Society up to 2006-2007 Laxmi Charitable Trust has taken over the management from 2007-2008 The College offers courses for graduate studies in the fields of Arts, Science & Commerce To keep pace with the changing times, the college has extended modern facilities and amenities to the students The College has successfully launched four new degree courses - namely Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in the academic year 2001-2002 Bachelor of Science in Bio-Technology in the academic year 2002-2003 Bachelor of Mass Media in the academic year 2009-2010 The Institution is housed in a spacious building with extensive open grounds It is located at close proximity to Andheri (East) Railway Station & BEST Bus Depot In the year 2003-2004, the College was accredited with A Grade by NAAC
