Sarala Mohavidyalaya

The idea of establishing a college in this rural area cherished in the mind of many educated, conscious and established persons of this locality which was materialized in 1977-78, with the establishment of Sarala, Mohavidyalaya, Rahama. Being named after the Goddess Sarala the goddess of education, and its foundation stone laid by His Holiness Namacharya 'Bayababa 'the institution since its inception, strives to attain its academic excellence with an aesthetic and spiritual appeal. Initially, affiliation was granted by Utkal University to open Intermediate classes in Humanities with five subjects from the academic session 1977-78. Subsequently, the college adopted the +2 & +3 Degree classes from the academic session 1984-85. and it obtained necessary recognition and affiliation from the Govt. of Orissa and Utkal University respectively to impart teaching in +3 Arts, Science and Commerce classes with sanctioned strength of 256, 112 and 64 respectively. Affiliation has also been granted by Utkal University to impart Honours teaching facilities in Economics, Political Science, History, Sociology, Oriya, Anthropology, Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Accountancy. At present the actual affiliated strength in +3 Degree classes is 1296 and in +2 classes is 1280. So the total affiliated strength of the college has become 2576. Besides the regular courses, the college has provided facilities for computer courses in the campus. so as to spread computer knowledge among the students in collaboration with L.C.C.
