Samskrithy - Center for Indian Performing Arts

Samskrithy', a dream project of eminent Kathakali artist Sri.FACT Mohanan to enrich Indian Traditional and Classical art-forms for the next generation. FACT Mohanan was born on May 14, 1959 at Aluva( Ernakulam district, Kerala). After his school education, he joined FACT Kathakali school in 1973 for a six-year course in ?Kathakali vesham? (acting). He was trained by veteran artists like Kalamandalam Karunakaran and Kudumaloor Karunakaran Nair. Then he got a two year scholarship from UNESCO under Guru ''Padmasree Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair'' with a higher diploma in 1981 and joined Vijnana Kala Vedi School, Aranmula, as the main Kathakali teacher. He spent years in this institution and trained many Indian and foreign students. His students is continuing their higher studies as their profession in many recognized institutions, inspired by his teaching. He first appeared on stage in 1974 and has been performing regularly since then both in India and abroad, playing many different characters. In 1982 he performed in the inaugural function of the ?Asian Games? in New Delhi, in the 'Sikkim Autumn Festival' in November 1988 and also in the 'London Kerala Festival' September 2001.
