Saheed Anurup Chandra Mahavidyalaya

Saheed Anurup Chandra Sen was a great freedom fighter associated with the renowned revolutionary freedom movement i.e. Chattagram Armoury Raid. Anurup Chandra Sen, Masterda Surya Sen and others were the distinguished members of the Chattagram Youth Revolutionary Party. The establishment of Saheed Anurup Chandra Mahavidyalaya is a tribute to a great freedom fighter who took shelter in the village Burul in the guise of a teacher of Burul High School and inspired a group of students to pursue social zeal. Anurup Chandra Sen was an educationist par excellence. Unfortunately, after four years Anurup Chandra Sen was arrested by the British police on the information of a traitor. Later, Sri Sen died in jail while in protest-fasting. In a teaching career of merely four years, Anurup Chandra Sen performed the task of weaving dreams in the minds of students. Late Pravash Roy, one of his disciples took the initiative to materialize the mission of his teacher i.e. to enable the socially and economically backward students (both boys and girls) of the adjoining areas to pursue college education. The founding members had felt the inconveniences of the learners of the remote villages of outstretching areas in receiving college-education and had dreamt of dispelling their distresses through the establishment of a degree college in the Village BURUL. The co-sharers of this dream were the local people, whose unstinted help had continued from buying the first brick to the establishment of the college.
