The College was set up in the year 1959 in the rural and tribal pocket of Dhanbad district with prime aim and object of catering the needs of higher education to the people of Adivasi, Harijan, Minority and other Backward sectors of society residing in and around Govindpur and its adjoining areas. Originally it was affiliated to old Bihar University end with the creator of Ranchi University, Ranchi in 1960 it cameunder the jurisdiction. At present it is a constituent unit of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag the college impacts educatin up to Degree level in Arts, Commerce and Science with Hons provision.
