Pramathesh Barua College

Pramathesh Barua College, Gauripur popularly known as P. B. College was set up in the year 1964 in Arts Stream. It is named after the multifaced genius of Indian cinema the proud son of Gauripur, Late Rajkumar Pramathesh Chandra Barua with Dr. Birendra Nath Datta as the founder principle. The plots land were donated by the Gauripur Royal Family. The district in which the institution stands is one of the most backward districts of Assam inhabited mostly by the farmers and toiling masses. Considering the poor literacy vate, weak socio-economic conditions and other limitations, some for sighted and education loving leading citizens of Gauripur took initiative to set up the institution to materialise their dream.
