Jan Vikas Nyas Is A Public Trust Founded By Shri. & Smt. Shitla Sahai In The Memory Of Their Only Son Who Had Died Of Cancer. They Pledged To Give The People Of This Area, A Modern Institute Of Cancer. This Trust, Which Is Registered Under Madhya Pradesh Trust Act Of 1951, Started Cancer Hospital And Research Institute, Gwalior In The Year* 1977. This Hospital Is Recognized By Government Of India As A Regional Centre For Cancer Reserch And Treatment.N Order To Provide Comprehensive Nursing Care To Patients, School Of Nursing Was. Established By The Trust In The Year 1985. Subsequently Jan Vikas Nyas Started A College Of Nursing In The Year 1992 Affiliated To Jiwaji University, Gwalior And Approved By The Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi And Also Recognized By U.G.C. For Upgrading Quality Care In Nursing Practice. So Far Sixteenth Batches Of B.Sc. Nursing Students Have Passed Out From This College, Who Are Presently Working In The Various State Of The Country And Abroad. This Institute Was Upgraded As P. G. College Of Nursing. M. Sc. Nursing Courses Started Since 2003. Philosophythe Faculty Of This College Of Nursing Believes That The Bachelor In Nursing Prepares Nurses For Position In Nursing Both In The Hospital And Community At Large. Our Concept Of Nursing Is Based On The I.C.N.'S Definition Of "The Unique Function Of The Nurse Which Is To Assist An Individual, Sick Or Well In Performance Of Those Activities, Contributing To Health Or Its Recovery" It Is Also Based On W.H.O.'S Definition That "Health Is A Complete State Of Physical, Mental And Social Well-Being And Not Merely Absence Of Diseases Or Infirmity".The Faculty Of This College Believe On Providing Nursing Education Based And Built On Scientific Principles In Order To Produce Professionally Qualified Nurse Who Will Be Able To Function As A Team Member In All Health Care Agencies As Role Of Practicing Nurse Either In Hospital Or Community Based Organization. The Graduates And Post Graduates With Experience Can Rapidly Move Towards Leading Positions In Nursing Education, Administration And Research.The Masters Programe In Nursing Prepare Nurses For Leadership Position Who Can Function As A Nurse Specialist. Nurse-Practitioner, Nurse-Consultant, Nurse-Educator, Nurse-Administrator & Nursing-Researcher In Wide Variety Of Professional Settings. It Will Help To Meet The National Health Priorities And Changing Needs Of The Society At Large.We Provide And Promote All-Round Development Of Students With Special Emphasis On Physical Cultural, Intellectual And Spiritual Aspects Need To Prepare A Professional Nurse Who Will Be Contributing As Citizen And Effective "Change Agent" In An Ever Changing Society.Being Aware Of The Pressing Needs Of The Profession, We Are Committed To Provide Post Graduate Education To Those Nurses Who Have The Potential And Motivation To Become Nurse-Educators, Nurse-Researcher Who Will Be Able To Contribute Towards Meeting The Issues And Challenges Confronting The Nursing Profession Today.
