Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya

The establishment of Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya, Ashokenagar was the fulfullment of a dream long cherished by eminent personalities and educationists of the locality. In tune with the local thirst for knowledge which resulted in the emergence of a sizeable number of Secondary and Higher Secondary schools in the Ashokenagar-Kalyangarh area, the late Nani Kar, then an MLA , already an educationist and a dreamer, seriously felt the need for a degree college in the said catchments area. The college in the vicinity, Sree Chaitnya College & Sree Chaitanya Mahavidyalaya at Habra could hardly accommodate the increasing demand and number of higher education-seekers from far and near. Affiliation from University of Calcutta came on 8th December,2000, and the much awaited teaching-learning process took off at the adjacent Sanskriti Sangha Girl's School in the morning shift on and from 15th January, 2001where only 35 students were enrolled.
