When Narasinghpur deserved a College and the people needed it, they had it. Pious and propitious were indeed the moments of that memorable day, the 31st day of December, 1978 when the temple bells tolled and the entire atmosphere of Narasinghpur overflowed with their resounding resonance to open the gate-way of this shrine of higher learning. Befittingly Dr. Radhanath Rath, the Editor of "The Samaj" and a noble and notable son of mother Orissa inaugurated the establishment of this College whose blessings have a cheering and an animating influence on the in-mates of this Alma Mater. The club-building of Narasinghpur where this institution was born and brought up, the benevolent public of this area, who have contributed their might, mind and money to its growth and the staff of the college who have rendered their service and sacrifice for it are not only historic records and names, but they awaken a sense of belongingness and a spirit of possessiveness to see the blue-print of progress for this institution. The 10th February, 1983 is a red-letter day in the history of this College as Dr. M.K. Rout, the then Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University inaugurated the new home for this College at Dalkhai, two kilometres to the east of Narasinghpur town. With beauteous forms and scenic landscapes all around and away from the maddening crowd's ignoble strife, this seat of higher education has been successfully and effetively imparting teaching to a large cross-section of human society in the length and breadth of the old Ex-State of Narasinghpur and even beyond. The infant institution that developed with a meagre student strength of just 55 in the Intermediate of Arts class in 1978 has now blossomed into a full-fledged Degree College with Arts and Commerce faculties with the subjects History, Political Science, Economics, Sanskrit, Oriya, Education, Geography and Sociology. At the +2 stage there is at present provision for teaching in Logic and Home Science in addition to the above mentioned subjects of the degree stage, Commerce stream with 32 seats at the +2 Level was introduced in the College during the 1985-86 academic session and in due course. Three year Degree course in Commerce with 64 seats was also introduced in the College during 1995-96 academic session. At present there are Honours facilities is History, Political Science, Education and Sanskrit with 16seats in each subject and we are looking forward for the introduction of Honours in Economics and Commerce in the coming academic session and Honours in Geography and classes at the +3 stage in Philosophy and Home Science thereafter. The academic session 1994-95 was memorable as +2 Science faculty was introduced in the College with 64 seats and students got educational facilities in Physics. Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Attempts are being made for opening of science at the degree level in the coming academic session i.e. 2007-2008 which is a very long-felt need of this temple of learning. Computer Application has been introduced in +2 Commerce and +3 Arts & Commerce streams during 2002-03 academic session in collaboration with M/s Lakotia Computer Centre and later in collaboration with M/s. Kalinga Computer Development Project. Dhenkanal since 2004-05 and during the same period the College got permanent concurrence for +3 streams. What the College urgently requires today is UGC assistance that would give new impetus to this Alma Mater which recently celebrated the Silver Jubilee with the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Orissa Mr. Naveen Pattnaik as Chief Guest The academic atmosphere of the College ripples with rapturous glory of crowning successes of batches after batches of Learners from year to year. The results of this institution at the +2 and Degree Level are at par with or even better than the CHSE and University percentage because of the dedication and devotion of the students and staff towards education and sincerely due to the informal and intimate interaction between the teacher and the taught. The College is indebted to the Block and Revenue authorities for their help and co-operation in stimulating the onward march of this growing College. The members of the old Governing Bodies deserve our thanks and gratefulness for their guidance, Leadership initiative and drive in shaping the College to the size of what it is today. The row of rooms erected on the eastern part of the College-building bear honest testimony to the definite contribution made by the State Government in the early Nineties from the un-tied fund through the local M.L.A. revenue authorities and the local Block. Similarly, the new block built on the western side of the main block of the College, the foundation stone of which was laid in 1994 by Sj. S.N. Nayak, the then Hon'ble Minister of Revenue, Orissa, gives a gracious look to the College. A vast Conference Hall has been built in the first floor of the New block with funds sanctioned by the benevolent M.P. of Cuttack Parliamentary Constituency Hon'ble Sj. Bhartruhari Mahatab and the local M.L.A. Hon'ble Sj. Debi Prasad Mishra. We expect benevolent funds from them to complete the first floor of the New Block in the present academic session itself. Our college has been marching forward on the path of progress. Insatiable are our dreams and inordinate are our aspirations. We have attained a lot and still year for achieving garden was our long-felt need of our college. We are going to fashion it this year with financial allocation from our developmental fund. The acute water problem of the college has somehow been litigated now by the digging of a vast water sump in front of the Extensive Block of our college. An upstair building has already been constructed over the new block and it is going to house the staff common Room, Ladies, common Room, computer Room and also a ovell-furnished lovatony. We have also built up a Bicycle shed for students and a canteen for all that will supply qualitative and hygienic food to the inmates of the college. A co-operative consumer stone has also started functioning in the college to supply necessary goods and provisions to the inmates of the institution. A strong boundary wall and an attractive gate give the college an excellent look. The most important and remarkable achievement of the college during academic session 2006-2007 is the inclusion of our college in 2(f) & 12 B of the U.G.C. This inclusion was a long-cherished hope and it has added new petals to the lovely lotus of the intuition. We are now eligible to receive financial grants for infrastructural improvement of the college. We hope in years to come the college will achieve greater success and exhibit better performance in various fields. Last but not be least we have opened computer science in +2 Govt. Junior vocational college and about 16 students are now continuing their study. We are allowed to admit 56 students in two sections. A matter of great delight is that we have also introduced I.T. (Information Technology) and sanskrit +2 level as fourth elective from the cement academic session 2007-2008. Information Technology is also available for degree students, but it is a self-financing course. Let's hope that this college becomes an ideal educational institute in the sub-division in years to come and for that matter let's join our hands the Governing Body, the staff and students and above all the public of this area.
