Mankachar College

Mankachar College was established in 1971 with Arts Stream alone. The organizing meeting of the college was held on the 8th day of March, 1970 in the J.M.H.S. School premises with Late Zahirul Islam, the then MLA of Mankachar L.A. Constituency in the chair. He was President of the Organizing Governing Body of the college and Sri Shankarlal Agarwala, M.Com, L.L.B. was the Secretary of the college till 1981. The college came under Deficit Grants-in-Aid system on 1st September, 1981. The general people of the locality contribute generously for the development of the college. So, the college was nomenclature as "Mankachar College" The college started with 68 male and 11 female students in the Mankachar J.M.H.S. School premises with the classes being taken in the morning shift. The college was shifted to its own building in January, 1979. The land of the college was donated in the memory of Late Fazal sheikh of Sarkarpara by members of his family on 26th day of May 1973.
