Loganatha Narayasamy Government College was first started in Chengallpattu M.G.R District. Two great industrialists Thiru. Loganathan Mudalliyar and Thiru. T. S. Narayasamy jointly donated Rs five lakhs initially to start the college in the year of 1965. Along with them, the Government of TamilNadu stretched their helping hands by donating the buildings worth of Rs three lacks in the year of 1965. The name of the college was placed in the remembrance of these two great philanthropists. The college which has the area of 60 acres is functioning in the Thirvottiyur ? Ponneri road Thrivallur Dist. Four courses were introduced in the year of 1965. Due to this, the people dwelling in the North rural area from Chennai got the opportunity of getting further higher studies. Mathematics and History courses were started in the year 1966 followed by the introduction of Undergraduate programs in Physics, Chemistry and Botany. During the year of 1979-80 History and English Literature courses were introduced. In the year of 1980-81 Political science was introduced and in the year of 1993-94 Post Graduate course in Political Science was started. In the year of 1999-2000 and 2008-2009 the Computer Science under Graduate and Post Graduate courses were introduced respectively. This college was granted with NAAC accreditation with C+ grade. This college has been given the status of first grade in the academic year of 2007-2008. In the year 2011, autonomy has been granted to the college and subsequently, undergraduate courses in Computer Applications, Tamil literature and Commerce have been started in the academic year 2012 ? 2013. Also, during the same period, post graduate courses in Physics, Chemistry, Plant Biology and Plant Bio-Technology, Tamil, English are also introduced in the college. To inculcate rural youngsters, under graduate and post graduate diploma courses in Entrepreneurship and Business Management are introduced in the year 2011. L N College also houses research programs leading to Ph.D in the departments of Plant Biology and Plant Bio-Technology (Full Time) and Mathematics (Part time)
