Jijamata College of Science and Arts

The Jijamata College of Science and Arts, Bhende, was established in July 1992 by Shri Marutrao Ghule Patil Shikshan Sanstha, Dnyaneshwarnagar, Bhende. The college is a grant-in-aid institution and permanently affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University. It has also been included under Section 2(f) and 12 B of the UGC Act and eligible to receive central assistance. The college has received the prestigious, ?The Best Rural College of Savitribai Phule Pune University? award during the year 2011 and reaccredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, the prestigious ?A? grade. This year (Academic year, 2014-15), the college has been selected by Department of Science and Technology (DST, New Delhi) ? for financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 70,00,000/- under its Fund for Infrastructure development in Science and Technology (FIST) program. The college is offering 3 year duration undergraduate degree programs viz., Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Mathematics & Computer science specializations; Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with Marathi, Hindi, English, History, Economics & Geography, specializations, and B.Com with Marketing Management & Banking and Finance specializations. The college is also offering 2 year Post graduate degree programs viz., Master of Arts (M.A) in Marathi and Economics and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Analytical Chemistry. From the last academic year credit system was introduced for post graduate courses. The college is also providing a facility for the students of this college to pursue additional add-on courses, while continuing their under-graduate programmes. They are the UGC sponsored and Savitribai Phule Pune University approved Career Oriented courses. The college is offering five such courses. They are: Career Oriented Certificate courses in i) Computer awareness, ii) Spoken English and iii) Nursery Development, iv) Career Oriented Diploma course in Computer Awareness and v) Career Oriented Advanced Diploma Course in Computer Awareness. The college aims to provide educational facilities to the economically backward and rehabilitated project affected students. The major objective of this college is to encourage and motivate these classes for intellectual, moral, social and academic growth, to impart education while motivating them to seek higher education. The college campus (25 Acres) is dotted with lush green trees and shrubs all around. It has a most picturesque and inviting atmosphere. The college is permanently affiliated to the University of Pune and is approved under Section 2 (f) and Section 12 (b) of the UGC act. At present the college has 28 teaching and 11 non-teaching administrative staff. The college has Science and Arts faculties and offers instructions at graduate level.
