Nowda- a small hinterland in the district of Murshidabad- besides the river Jalangi- is a Muslim dominated agro based society. People are in general not very affluent and need to struggle for their existence. The aborigines of this region are therefore economically challenged over and above being socially backward. Sri Jayanta Biswas Assistant Teacher of Amtala High School- had the enterprising vision of gathering support from academics, social workers and teachers who could rise above the narrow domains of ?Self? and the culmination of their efforts and dedication translated their vision to todays reality- the only college within the radial distance of 25 kms.
