Institute of mass communication film and television studies, a non-profit educational institute, is registered under societies Act, XXVI of 1961, Govt. of West Bengal in the year 2002. The institute provides a wide array of courses which includes mass communication, audio-visual communication, public relations, journalism advertising,; film studies and other allied subjects related to media studies. The staff comprises of individuals who have worked with diverse media bodies. There are a few educators in the establishment who additionally instruct in the Calcutta University and Jadavpur University mass correspondence and reporting courses.
