Institute of Education for Women

Located in the heritage building of the country residence of the first Governor General of India, Lord Warren Hastings, the sprawling green campus of the Institute of Education for Women, Hastings House, attracts students from all over West Bengal. Affiliated to the University of Calcutta and recognized by NCTE, it is a premier Government teacher education college for women. The Government of India upgraded it to a College of Teacher Education in the year 2001.The college started its M.Ed course from 2007 with NCTE recognition. This college has dedicated itself to quality pre-service and in-service teacher education since its inception. A large number of our trainees are employed in schools and colleges in West Bengal and other states in India.
