IITT has got affiliation from many government universities like HPU, HPTU and PTU. The Punjab Technical University, is a state level funded university in Jalandar which offers both under graduate as well as post graduate technical programs. Recently, on 19 December, 2013, the university won the award for the Best Public Sector University of the year during the 43rd Annual Convention of 'Indian Society for Technical Education' in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. ISTE promotes technical universities and encourages them to upgrade their performance so that the standard of quality education in the offered programs is maintained. Besides, Punjab Technical University has also been awarded with e-INDIA 2010 Award as 'ICT enabled university of the year'. Not only this, on 5 August, 2010, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Hyderabad government awarded PTU as 'Open and Distance Learning Initiative of the year'. Amidst, its Pojewal Campus, founded in 1998 by IITT has got affiliation with PTU and approval by AICTE and State of Punjab. IITT has also established Kalaamb Campus in 1997 which has got approval from HPU and affiliation from Himachal Pradesh Technical University. HPTU was founded in 2011 as a renowned public university in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh by the Act of State Legislation of the state. And as far as HPU is concerned, it was established in Shimla as a state university.
