Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, has the unique distinction of becoming the first educational institution in India to score 94.05% (Grade A+) the highest score awarded to any College by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore & recognized as College with Potential For Excellence by UGC. Affiliated to the five-star Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, it is the oldest women institution and the strongest link in the network of about 700 DAV educational institutions of various types. This institution was founded by the pioneer of DAV Educational Movement, Mahatma Hans Raj ji at Lahore in May, 1927 and revived at Jalandhar in March, 1948 with a meager strength of 80 students.
