Haji Anfar Ali College

Haji Anfar Ali College, the premier seat of higher education was put on a firm foundation in the mid 80's of the twentieth century at Daboka, the south-east part of Nagaon district in Assam. The greater Daboka area as we know today was once the historical kingdom of "Dobak". From the linguistic point of view, scholars assume that the word 'Dobak' is a derivative of the word 'Dibu', which means 'a ditch'. The whole locality used to be inundated by the rivers Jamuna and Kopili, and hence it came to be called 'Dabok'. The word 'Daboka' is said to have come from the mispronunciation of the word 'Dabok'.
