Bestowed with the holy touch of the saint soldier,the tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji, this small and sleepy hamlet, then known as "Khidrane Di Dhab" suddenly became "Muktsar" and emerged on the map of the Sikh History, when inspired by a brave woman warrior from Majha, Mai Bhago, 40 Sikh warriors fought a decisive battle giving a crushing defeat to the Mughals and attained Martyrdom on this very sacred place blessed with the name of the first Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, this college attributes its existence to the farsightedness of S. Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab and persistent and patient efforts of an octogenarian philanthropist of the city Dr. Kehar Singh. . Feeling the acute need of women education in this educationally backward region of Malwa belt " Guru Nanak Education Society " was founded to start this college in 1970 under the project of mass celebrations to mark the 500th year of birth of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The founder Principal, Miss Baljinder Kaur Mann, a personality with administrative acumen was deputed from Govt. College for Women, Patiala who lead the college towards development in every field. During her stint from 1970-75,the college became a landmark in the town and rural vicinity. After Miss B.K. Mann's sad and untimely demise, the college came under the directions of Mrs. R.K. Sidhu. She rendered her invaluable services for a long span of 27 years. In October 2000, the supreme body of the Sikhs The S.G.P.C took the college under its aegis With the joining of agile,energetic,dynamic and farsighted Principal Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, the college has touched new zeniths of success and fame.
