Government College for Women, Srikakulam is the only women?s college in the District, established in the year 1968, located in the heart of Srikakulam town, recognized by the UGC under 2(f) and 12(B), affiliated to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Etcherla, Srikakulam. From the humble and modest beginning, now the college has emerged as one of the premier Education Institutions of higher learning in the Zone, with strength of more than one thousand women students in this region. In the year 2011, the college was Re-Accredited with ?A? grade by NAAC for a period of five years. In its long journey of 46 years, the college offering conventional, contemporary and innovative courses to rural and middle class women to empower them by achieving the twin goals of gender justice and eco-friendly environment. The College has earned an enviable reputation due to its focus on quality, equity, inclusive education and innovative practices. Our College is located in the heart of the town, very close to Arasavelli, the abode of the famous Sun God Temple. It is accessible to city bus route. Situated in 12.65 acres of land, surrounded by green foliage and flower gardens, our campus is really pleasant and peaceful and most eco- friendly. We also have 17 well furnished lecture halls and 14 well equipped laboratories besides a computerised library with internet connectivity and a multi - gymnasium of 19 stages. We have 19 faculties supported by the administrative wing of the college and technical wing of the departments, We offer programmes in Arts, Commerce and Sciences in U.G & P.G. We also have self finance courses in English Medium covering the subjects of Bio Chemistry, Education and Computer Applications. In addition to the above 6 new certificate courses were introduced with the collaboration of IGNOU. A course in Translation proficiency has been introduced under UGC scheme. The College has two smart class rooms with facilities of LCD, OHP, T.V. & DVD.A spacies Seminar Hall,4 Class rooms, UGC funded Women?sHostel are under construction. Now the college is ready for Reaccreditation. I call upon the student community to utilise the new courses introduced in our college.
