Government Post Graduate College

Govt. Degree College, Lansdowne was started in 1972 with just 5 subjects Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Maths and physics. College was initially started in the campus of Inter College Jaharikhal. In 2004 Govt. Degree College Lansdowne, was shifted in its own Building at Gumkhal-Pauri Highway. College Campus is established in the donated land of 10.4 Acre area donated by the local Villagers. Currently College has five Building Administrative Block Science Block Arts Block Commerce Block courses were added with the passage of time College has seen the following milestone 1975 Economics,English, Hindi and sanskrit. 1979 Geography. 1988 History, Poltical science. 1989 Geology, Commerce. 2004 - 2005 PG Classes were started. IGNOU Courses IGNOU Courses has also started in the College with other Professional Courses. The college has gone through many changes and developments to meet the requirements of the youth of this region. The expansion and developments of the college has taken place within the broader guidelines of the National Education Policy and the plans of the Educational developments of the state. The college has now become a multi faculty institution providing Arts, Commerce and Science Coursed at Under Graduate and Postgraduate level. It is affiliated to Gharwal University Uttarakhand .The College caters to the need of higher education of the students from surrounding rural hilly areas. A large number of students belong to the weaker and poorer section of the society. The majority of the students want higher education as means of getting, a job, especially in the Government Sector. In Year 1983, the college earned U.G.C recognition under 2f and 12B.
