Government Music College

The Present name of Govt Music College is Sachin Debbarman Govt. Music College.This college was founded Pulin Debbarma in the year 1964. Pulin Debbarma was the utmost worshipper of music. He was born in the year 1914 , 10th March, at Agartala in Krishnanagar. From childhood, Pulin Thakur was very much interested in music. Pulin Debbarma was the first man who established 'Birbikram Music School' in his own house for tor the purpose of Spreading music throughout the common People . In the year 1951 This 'Birbikram Music School' Was shifted from Pulin Thakur's house to the Red Coloured building of the west side of Umakanta Academy with the new name of 'College of Music and Finearts'. In 1957, this College gained The affiliation of 'Vathkhand Sangeet Vidyapith' and in 1964 this College gained the name 'Govt Music College' with the support of Government of Tripura. In The month of June, 1967, the Govt Music College started its work with 650 Students in the new place near V.M. Chowmohani. The first teacher of this college was Kumud Ranjan Banerjee and the Legend Pulin Chardra Debbarma was the Senior Lecturer. At that time, the number of Instructors of this college was 12 and the number of Accompanists was 5.
