Government Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Dehradun was established in 1982 under the aegis of Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of Uttrakhand. GIHM is one of the oldest institutes of north India and has produced corporate managers, general managers, executive chefs, directors, principals or directors of hotel management colleges and entrepreneurs and is rated as one of the oldest and the best institute not only of Uttarakhand but entire north India.The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition, Dehradun is an Autonomous Institute setup by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India under its Grants-In-Aid Scheme. The institute is running under registered State Government Society and managed by Governing Body, and started its first Academic Session from July,2006.The institute conducts bachelor course in Hotel Management which is affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under Ministry of HRD, Goverment of India.
