Government Girls? Post Graduate College, Rampur, U.P., was established on 3rd August 1976, as the First Govt. Women?s College of Uttar Pradesh. This region, with a sizable minority Muslim population, lags behind in terms of education in general and Higher Education in particular. The Objective was to cater higher education to the girl students of the city of Rampur and the neighboring rural areas, who find it difficult to go outside and receive higher education. Started as a Degree college, with U.G program only in Arts Faculty, the college was later on upgraded to a Post Graduate College. Faculty of commerce was added in the year 2006. A new ?Science Faculty? building is presently ready for its launch. Since its inception the Mission of the college has been to provide higher education to the young girls of this region, especially belonging to the weaker socio-economic background and rural areas. Besides the curricular education the college consistently endeavors for the holistic development of their personality. Through various co-curricular and extra curricular activities like N.S.S., Ranger Games and Sports, Cultural competitions, Debate competitions, Group Discussions, Quiz etc. the college provides the opportunity and platform to prove themselves and blossom their innate talent and potentiality. Promising students are encouraged and assisted to participate in various Inter-college, University level, State level and National level competitions and programs. Year after year they have earned laurels and have made the college and the region proud. The ?Career Counseling and Placement Cell? of the college motivates and guides the young students in choosing and preparing for a right career. The Vision of the college is to broaden its horizon, corresponding to the dynamically changing concept of higher education in the country and the world. Through the ambitious Rastriya Uchhatar Siksha Abhiyan(R U S A) program, The proposal includes launching of job-oriented technical and professional courses like BCA, BBA, MCA,MBA, B.Ed.,M.Ed.,Courses in Fashion Technology, LLB etc. which would enable the Girl students of this area, especially belonging to the socio-economically weaker section and rural areas of this region to empower themselves and contribute meaningfully and substantially in the process of nation building. With the dynamic leadership of the Principal and a competent and committed faculty, the college is determined to prove itself as a milestone in the field of higher education
