Government College, Safidon is situated at the Jind Road, Safidon, State Highway 14, just 35 kms away from Panipat towards West. The Puranic City of Safidon (present name) is located in the land of Mahabharata (48 Kosas) at the periphery of the great Kurubhumi near the Thrikhu Theerth, the place of Yaksha; it is the place where the Post Mahabharata King Prikhit performed a yajnya for killing all the species of snakes; thereafter the place was known as Sarpdaman Nagar, which, with the passage of time, is known as Safidon; The king Janmejai, the successor of the king Prikshit, constructed a huge pond at the place of yajnya, which, now is called 'Naagkshetra Sarovar?, since then the Hindu pilgrims come for worshipping and bathing in the sarovar.
