Gauri Shankar Girls Postgraduate College Bulandshahr,was founded on 2nd September 1996.Long time ago, the intellectual people of the district had tried a lot to initiate separate higher education for the girls,considering the evils of the co-education but unfortunately they could not succeed in the series, some education loving people came forward and a meeting was held on 2nd August 1993.They took an oath to establish a Girls Degree College, on the name of ancient Indian scholarly lady ?Gargi? they organized ?Gargi Vidhya Sabha? they organized a committee and fortunately they owned eleven thousand square feet land near Gauri Shankar Mahadev Ji Maharaj Temple at Shankar Bagh, Near Railway Station, Bulandshahr. Finalizing all the formalities for the affiliation of the C.C.S. University, Meerut they started the financial aid of socially active people in 1996-1997, they got permission to initiate undergraduate classes. With Humanities subjects: Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Sociology, Economics and Homescince. With the admission of 155 student in B.A. Part I the Gauri Shankar Girls?. Degree College started systematically. One of the most important member of the committee was ?Seth Gauri Shankar Goyanaka?, who has donated all his immoveable property to establish the College. They organized ?Shankar Bagh Trust? and started the construction of ?Gauri Shankar Mahadevji Maharaj Temple? Mr.Anil Kumar Goyanaka and Trustees of the Trust to immortalize the spirit of ?Seth Gauri Shankar Goyanaka the committee decided to named the College after her name. In the beginning, Dr.Chattarpal Singh was the ?President? of the committee.(President he is the member of the committee) and her contribution in the development of the College is unforgettable. He is primarily concerned with the College problems and progress. In 1997, Chief Minister Mr. Kalyan Singh also visited the College and donated ten lack rupees for the construction of new building By the financial aid of these education loving leaders a block of four lecturer room could be constructed , Beside them Mr.Sanghpriya Gautam has given one lack ninety eight thousand rupees for the construction of new lecturer room and Mr.Mahender Singh Yadav donated ninty eight thousand one hundred rupees to the development of the college. Thus with the contribution of such liberal minded and education loving people the establishment, construction and development of the college could be possible since 1996. Gauri Shankar Girls Degree College is on the way to attain the height of success. Due to this in 2005-2006, we got the permission to start B.com.and M.A.Homescince in the College. As a positive result of all these efforts the number of the students is increasing every year.When the College was initiated there were only 155 students admission in the College. At present, total strength of the student is 979. The aim of the College is to give the student not only bookish knowledge but also the practical knowledge.We try our best to develop the inner potential of the student and motivate them to attain the ethical heights.Due to this several extra curricular activities and cultural activities are organized in the college every year. To maintain the academic level we arrange extra classes. We also take extra classes for ?Foundation Courses?. We arrange lecture series on each subject. We invite learned academicians to deliver one day lecture to give deep and wide knowledge of the subject.Monthly test and half yearly exams are held to check their progress. The teachers take interest in the problems of the student and solve them personally Due to this, the student of the College also got place in the order of merit in C.C.S. University Meerut. Our motive is to make our student self depend therefore we arrange sewing and computer course free of cost. We take personal interest in the progress of our student and help them at every possible level either it be academic moral emotional or financial .We provide free books, uniform sweater and other essential aids to the needy students According to the norms of the university, the topper students should be rewarded but the managing committee of the College also rewards the subject topper to motivate them. Not only on the academic grounds but also in co-curricular and extra curricular activities the students of the college are awarded. They also participate in several competition in different College. They participate on Inter-collegiate debate competition, quiz competitions to provide them ample opportunities to bloom. The several competition at internal level are organized every year by ? Sanskritik Aur Sahityik Samiti?of the College, such as debate competition, essay competition, poetry competition, singing competition, rangoli competition, mehandi competition, card competition, thal decoration competition, cooking competition, salad competition, hair style competition, karva decoration competition etc. Inspite of the fact that we are trying our best to attain the height of academic success, we are well aware of the fact that it is the immature stage of our vision. It requires great efforts to fultil our aims and abjects.
