Food Craft Institute ? Visakhapatnam is a Technical Institute jointly sponsored by Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh and was established vide.G.O.MS.No.318 Labour, Employment, Nutrition and Technical Education (TE. 1) Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, dated 24th December 1983. The Institute is governed by Food Craft Institute (Visakhapatnam) Society, registered under Societies Registration Act (1860). The Institute commenced academic services in the year 1986 when it was added to the list of such Institutes nationwide, offering Craft level courses. After completion of 5 academic years under the financial support of Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, the Institute was taken over by the Government of Andhra Pradesh vide G.O.MS.NO. 262 Education (TE-1) Department dated 25-02-1992. The One and half year Craft Certificate Course Programs currently offered are designed to equip the students with all the skills and knowledge required to effectively discharge supervisory responsibilities in Star category hotels, Airlines, Merchant Navy and Cruise line catering, Industrial catering etc., in addition to preparing them for self employment. However, after completion of the course, they start as operational trainees and rise up the ranks. Positive attitude, in addition to zeal for hard and smart work helps enjoy rewarding careers in the field. The Institute also offers need based Short-Term Skill Development courses designed and revised from time to time.
