The college was started in the year1973 with a progressive outlook to provide higher education to the people of Yanam, a pocket of Union Territory of Puducherry (formerly a French colony) is situated geographically in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. It was named after Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned teacher and former President of India.
Formerly, it was affiliated to The Andhra University, Waltair, and offered B.A.., B. Com., and B.Sc., degree courses. Subsequently, after the establishment of The Pondicherry University (a Central University) in Puducherry by the Government of India, the affiliation for the UG courses was switched over to The Pondicherry University from the academic year 1986-87. The UGC approved this college under 2(f) & 12 (B) during 1984-`85 and started releasing funds under various schemes. At present, this college offers B.A., B. Sc., B. Com., M.A., (Economics) and M. Com. courses. It was accredited at B level by NAAC during 2015.
