The genesis of Don Bosco Arts and Science College (DBASC), Angadikadavu can be traced back to the year 1992. Mr. Thomas Thanangattu, a past pupil of Don Bosco and proprietor of GINA Engineering Company, a leading construction firm in Bangalore donated six acres of land from his ancestral property to the Salesians of Don Bosco for establishing a college for those seeking a quality institute for higher education in northern districts of Kerala.
Don Bosco Arts & Science College had a humble beginning in 1994 as a Parallel College, offering pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate courses of Calicut University for about 600 students, with Fr. Thomas Poovelickal SDB as Rector and Manager, and Bro. Shaji Kalavanal SDB as Principal.
It was in 2002 that Don Bosco Parallel College was elevated to an affiliated Self-Financing College of Kannur University, with Master of Computer Applications (MCA) as its only academic programme. Two new postgraduate programmes, Master of Communication and Journalism (MCJ) and Master of Social Work (MSW), were introduced in 2003. Three undergraduate programmes, BA English Literature, BCom and BSc Mathematics were launched in 2005. Savio Home, a full-fledged men?s hostel was blessed in 2006.
As per the requirements of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Don Bosco Arts & Science College was formally bifurcated from Don Bosco College to a new campus on November 8, 2008.
Maria Niketan, women?s hostel for postgraduate students was formally opened in June 2013. Three undergraduate programmes (BCom Co-operation, BBA & BCA) and two postgraduate programmes (MA English Literature and MCom Finance) were added in 2012. Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) was launched in 2015.
