Shri Dayanand ji Gupta was born on the 12th day of December in ?Raja ki Haat?, Jhansi. He inherited the strong Aryasamaji fervour from his father, Dr Ramswaroop ji and simplicity and impeccable character from his mother, Shrimati Rampyari.
The clarion call of Mahatma Gandhi to devote one?s life to the mother nation was took to heart by Gupta ji and he plunged into the 1930s struggle just after passing High School in 1929 from Rajkiya Inter College, Hardoi.
He took the LLB degree from Lucknow University and ushered into the profession of Law in Moradabad thereby giving it new dimensions and vistas. The fount of emotions and sensitivity in him made him a profound writer also. This feat was nurtured by the literary company of the doyen of Hindi literature, the wondrous poet Shri Surya Kant Tripathi Nirala. His creativity produced ?Karwaan?, a short story collection ?Manzil? and a poetic compilation ?Naivedya?. His ardent passion for literature motivated him to establish ?Hindi Parishad? in the district. The patriotic tsunami of 1942 took him also in its stride and he acted as quite a zealot in its local uprising. He understood the pangs and demands of the Labour Movement so well that he even represented India in the International Labour Conference held in Genoa
He remained a perennial student of literature throughout his life. He ventured not only into the literary worlds of Hindi and English literature but also he tried to understand the teachings of Quraan and other genres like History and Indian culture with ?lan. He felt very strongly about the need to educate the girls. So, he resurrected the redundant institution ?Baldev Arya Sanskrit Pathshala? and opened ?Baldev Arya Kanya Inter College?. In 1960, this great stalwart opened ?Arya Kanya Mahavidyalaya? to ameliorate the conditions of higher Education for the girls.
Shri Dayanad Gupta was a workaholic who was having his busy day on the 25th of March, 1982 when he set off to the Heavenly abode, leaving behind an inspiring legacy of selfless social service and honesty of character.
